I have been looking at properties in Canada from Victoria single homes to Winnipeg condos, and I am having a difficult time deciding where to shoot a particular scene involving a lowly group of career criminals plotting a supermarket theft. The problem is that every place I look at seems too civilized for the element I am dealing with. I think I may have to move on to a less desirable location than western Canada. However, the deal was already made with a market in Winnipeg and moving away from the heart of the film would certainly destroy my budget. I guess I’ll just have to grime up one of the local places to capture the right atmosphere.

I recently drove a friend to the airport to meet a group of people from her church to go on a mission trip. They were flying to Tel Aviv and it was going to be a long flight. As we made our way down the highway, she was telling me about the trip, what they were going to do and how she had stuffed her suitcase with peanut butter and crackers, among other things, because she was not sure if she would like the food. In mid sentence she stopped and announced that she had not armed her alarm system. But she didn’t sound panicked. She pulled out her cell phone and through ADT Pulse armed it from there. She started telling me how great it was to have her system linked to her cell phone and how what all she could do with it. It is truly amazing what all we can do with our cell phone now. We find restaurants, get directions, pull up comparative pricing on items, check our emails, chat on Face Book, and play addictive word games, all from a small device in our hand. Now, if it could only pick the winning lottery numbers for me, it would be my new best friend!

I couldn’t believe what I was reading when I first saw in print that individuals could actually establish their own bank called infinite banking. I decided that the world should be better informed about something like this that could have a tremendous impact on one’s life. The possibilities with a tool like this are endless. To do my part, I am putting together a crew to document this advantageous process on film. It will take a minimal amount of production cost to get out the word. I could see it going viral already. The really hard thing to believe is that this concept has been around for many decades.

When I am on the set and am asked to opine on a certain decoration or prop, I have no hesitation or indecision. Everything appears to be black and white for me. I like it or I don’t like it. It’s as simple as that. Now that I am asked to approve or disapprove our upcoming wedding decorations, I am a tongue tied fool. It is funny how the reality of the situation has brought me down a few pegs. All of a sudden I am questiong every decision I face. I guess I am going through the same jitters that every groom to be suffers.

I have found the perfect little location for a cross coastal love scene we are filming. This Burnaby condo sets exactly the right mood for what the writer and director have in mind. This absolutely darling young woman from Montreal meets a charming young man from BC. The cultural differences challenge their relationship since their respective families seemingly will never see eye to eye. The east-west thing that goes on in Canada is no rare thing. It is sort of like the New York-LA thing or the Sydney-Melbourne thing. They are all childish, but in any case do exist. The condo sets the scene for the families to face that their children have a special thing going for them.

You can spend 200 million dollars on a movie and still have no guarantee that people will flock to see it. This was painfully the case with a movie about people living strictly at sea. We don’t have to mention the title since it would only rub salt in the wound (no pun intended). The point is if the marketing isn’t there, the reliance on word of mouth is very risky indeed. Had they surveyed the audience through B2B telemarketing or some other reliable tool, the loss of the millions could have possibly been avoided. The old look before you leap is certainly applicable in this case.

For some unknown reason, my niece thinks that since I am involved in movies, that I am the last word in wedding decorations. She is under the illusion that I am some bon vivant and a man of the world. She should know that 75% of my life is spent alone in the dark. This doesn’t mean that I won’t do everything I can to help her plan her wedding. It simply means she is disillusioned. The funny thing is that I am really beginning to look forward to the whole project. Who knows? There may be a latent talent hidden down deep that is waiting to be expressed.

When you are in the movie business, you have the opportunity to experience endless types of creativity. Sometimes you can’t believe the talent that some individuals have, from the writer to the actors to the cinematographers. This is why, when I tell you that the talent I recently witnessed on a web design Toronto site is incredibly remarkable. I am not saying I am the last word, but I certainly am not a novice when it comes to appreciating and understanding raw talent when I see it.
Many people can do web design. Very few can bring it to the state of excellence.

All quiet on the set. We are about to perform a union between arch enemies Rodan and Godzilla. These two rivals have wreaked havoc all over the globe for decades. Recently they have reconciled since they discovered that they are each of the opposite sex and would certainly produce magnificent specimens as off spring. The only problem they are having is in the selection of the theme for their wedding decorations. They do not particularly desire to have a reptilian theme. They are asking you, the public to send in suggestions. Whomever’s suggestion they adopt, will receive an invitation for two to this momentous and obviously historic event.

You walk into a display room that has upwards of a thousand wedding cake toppers. In minutes they all come to life and begin parading around the room. It looks something like the “Night at the Museum” as all these characters are interacting as if the world was their stage. Don’t worry, you’re not losing your mind. You’re simply dreaming about the WeddingStar website you saw yesterday that blew you away. It is like you are in the middle of a movie scene and you sre beginning to have a lot of fun. Soon you become one of the characters and you find yourself precariously mounted atop one of the world’s tallest cakes. The alarm goes off. You’re safe.
